We’ve found OUR Voice… on a Global Stage
“WOW.” That was the first word out of my mouth when I heard not one, but two game-changing announcements from OneMama.org founder, Siobhan Neilland. 2015 is OneMama’s year, and we’re more than ready to hit the ground running!
WOW #1: OneMama Is Going to The CSW United Nations, NYC
OneMama.org founder, Siobhan Neilland, has been selected as a Global Partner by the Women’s Intercultural Network and UN Women to be a delegate at the United Nation’s 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. Siobhan is now an official UN NGO Delegate on behalf of Uganda as a Global Partner, and this March will stand on a global stage with other Action Heroes of the World. We cannot wait to advocate for those in our communities, like Ugandan midwife Mama Jamira, whose voices may never reach the United Nations Headquarters or any global stage of this caliber. It may be these voices that sculpt future policies; it may be these voices that help illuminate a path of global peace in this world.
WOW #2: OneMama Featured In New York Fashion Week, NYC
February 16th and 17th OneMama.org goes to New York Fashion Week… in more ways than one. In addition to being the featured charity of one of the biggest fashion events in the world, The OneMama Collection and ShaBoom Products will strut the runway in a fashion show, collaborating to save lives through funding programs in Uganda that target the most impoverished communities living on under $1.25 a day. Each outfit on the catwalk will save the lives of hundreds, one mother and one baby at a time. We’re fighting for global change in the beauty and fashion communities—alongside the biggest names in the business—and looking fabulous while doing it!
Why are these feats so extraordinary?
Well, take a moment to peek behind the curtain of Siobhan’s three endeavors—working full-time at Amazon as a Senior Staffing Consultant , OneMama.org, and ShaBoom Products—then maybe you’ll see why. The first of those three engagements Siobhan takes care of on her own. The other two, however, are when we come in. The “we” I refer to is the team of dedicated, tenacious, innovators working behind the scenes and all over the world to keep the OneMama vision alive; a vision in which mothers give birth in a safe, sanitary conditions, and babies enter this world with the opportunity to live a healthy lives.
In many communities around the world, especially in the rural impoverished communities OneMama.org programs target, these two basic human necessities listed above are not the norm. This is why we fight for the joy of others, we fight for global, social change. With not one, but two transcontinental WOWs fast approaching, I cannot help but take a moment to stop, smile, and jump up and down at our journey ahead! These two “WOWs” are a culmination of years of hard work, and could not have come at a better time. 2015 is our year, world… and we’re ready for it!
Love ‘n light,
