Wow. Here we go…my health update…

It’s that time of the year again—and I could not be more happy to share it with all of you! In a few days, I will be embarking on my annual trip to Uganda/Tanzania and The OneMama Clinic. It’s been a long journey to get to this point.

This year has been particularly busy and hectic, mainly because of difficulties with my health. In January of this year, I started having difficulties with severe pain and inflammation through my whole body. This caused a sever exhaustion that seemed to make it challenging to function at my normal pace. Tasks and problem-solving that have become second-nature to me required more time and effort than ever before this year. I know you have not heard or seen much of me this year, and I thank you for your patience with me on this as I have been taking the time to rest for this whole year of 2018.

Ultimately, my health challenges led to a very difficult decision to postpone my trip to the OneMama Clinic until I was well enough to travel, so I didn’t go on the normal July trip as planned. It has also had me doing less social media updates, public appearances, and speaking engagements on behalf of OneMama.

I finally seem to be doing better after some very intense treatments this year to fight the inflammation and pain in my body.

Thanks to my incredibly supportive and skilled network of doctors, healers, and friends, I have good news: my sickness seems to be in remission! I am feeling healthier and more energetic than ever before, and ready to take on this upcoming trip to Uganda and Tanzania. We will be building out our programs, developing new partnerships, and continuing to fight for the joy of mamas and babies of this world!

My amazing husband stood by me and took such great care of me this year.

For the first time in my life feel like I have a partner who lets me really open up and let go in ways I never knew were possible, including giving myself space to heal this body of mine. I also had some lovely friends who drank tea with me and would have a light swim with me. They  stood by me in a challenging year that I am so grateful and blessed to have. I have had a very public life the last 10 years so it felt a little odd this year to be so internal and disconnected to my world family. Thanks for your patience with me as I have rebuilt a new way to work in the world.

As a gift of finally feeling better, My lovely Evan took me on a road trip to some of the most magical places, which you can see in a few of the pictures here.

First, we went to my sweet friend Gaby & Josh’s wedding in Arizona and took the opportunity to celebrate them as well as see the landscapes. We went all over Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. We saw Sedona, Prescott, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe bend, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Almost Yosemite (road was closed) and finally Tahoe…

It was an epic trip and brought me back to life after a long year of sleeping a lot.

We are now on another epic trip only a few weeks later with my amazing in-laws and husband before we go to the OneMama clinics in Uganda and Tanzania.

We are traveling to Jordan, Israel, and Egypt, and I’m extremely excited! I will include pictures when I have the time later in the trips.

Thanks again for your love and support and being my world family. I hope my absence has not been a burden to anyone, and I hope that I can move back into the engaging relationships with all of you again soon.

Love and Light,
Siobhan Neilland
